How do you like the Hohner pro 36? I am curious just about the sound and quality, and do you have other melodicas to compare it to?

playing regularly. To sound good you probably should play everyday.
I don’t play it often enough, I should.
The melodica is very effortless to play and it keeps your breath control exercised. I found that wind
instruments like the recorder or saxaphone benefit from melodica playing,
I do play in an alley outside my work, its nice as I don’t want to bother my work neighbors thru the walls.
I think my style maybe a bit like a clarinet,November 23, 2022 at 2:35 am #14533LeonardParticipantThats cool, for lack of a better word, when I first looked I thought that you had
put the padding over the hook of the plastic key, there is another way and that
would be to put a fabric shoe lace thru the spring, I am just guess here.
But you did stop the sound, I am sensitive, or aware of sounds like that, on some
doors in the house I;ve added a little pad to quiet them. Good work!March 24, 2022 at 2:38 am #14057LeonardParticipantVery interesting, of course I googled Claviola and quickly found Rory a visually impaired guy who has a collection of instruments, his video had a wonderful sound of the Claviola.
Then I listened to the 12 days of Christmas where he demonstrates all of his instruments. Lots of wind powered instruments and strings, I’ll put a link to it.
One of the instruments in a bass harmonica, I wonder if thats the sound I hear in the Beatles fool on the hill? anyone know what that chunky haaaa haaaa sound is.
But getting back to the subject, what a wonderful find, and also great that the instrumnet is in good shape, I wonder if it takes much breath power?opps, back in to add a link

Its not good, the joy of a melodica for me is the easy way they play, it should never be so much air.
Also the question about the mouth piece, that shouldn’t make any difference, from memory I think that the bottom of that melodica has alot of tiny screws they make a seal inside that is important, don’t overtighten them.February 5, 2022 at 6:06 am #14002LeonardParticipantNo, I did not know her myself, and welcome to the forum, I am new to the forum, but honestly I purchased a 26 key melodica possibly in the late 70’s or 80’s.
The other day I was telling a family member that playing one of my older saxaphones took alot of effort and practice to get a proper sound, and I mentioned that the melodica was so easy to play and rather effortless as well,
I’ve played recorders before and I know that breath control is very important on the melodica as well as the recorder, from going to one instrument to another I’ve noticed improvement the more that I play.
On your last line of your post, yes she is a good player and yes to the other note.
I saw her moving so much, I though she would pull the hose out of the melodica, i think she is checking it during the video, do you know what model she is playing?January 11, 2022 at 5:30 am #13852LeonardParticipantDon’t let anyone rain on your parade, Keep playing and enjoy the progress. I’ve never had that sort of
criticism, maybe its coming from a younger person who has no appreciation of personal made music.
Just play, the skills you gain in my opinion are indelible, I mean to say that any skills you gain are rarely forgotten.
Maybe you need to find a more isolated place to play, a tunnel, a park, A hill top, don’t stop! -
