Recently i watched your fantastic video about the build of your model; first of all: fantastic job! you did for sure the best melodica out there!. Second, I wish to ask some details about the reeds…1) may i ask please where did you find the set of reeds that is shown in the video? they seem to be like accordion reeds but with just a single lamella… i’m very interested in that because right now I’m thinking if I can modify a cheaper melodica with a good set of reeds. 2) did you ever try something like that?..

Hi Luca, thanks for your feedback!

The reeds are from Harmonikas: https://www.harmonikas.cz/en/uvod-english/

They’re made for melodicas, and are waterproof.

Some things to consider with what you’re planning to do:

1) There has to be enough space to house the new reeds
2) There has to be enough cavity space under the reeds for the tongues to dip downwards
3) The new reeds might not operate as well as the old ones

I did try something similar with a Yamaha melodica here: https://melodicaworld.com/forums/topic/a-p37d-with-high-quality-reeds/

I made a new converter piece for the new reeds, but ran into some problems…
