Hi, I’m just starting learning melodica and music theory and don’t want to pick up bad habits. I’ve checked out the lessons and playing CDEFG was done with fingers 12345. What if I’m trying to play the C major scale? Piano tutorials show it as CDEFGABC with fingers 12312345. Are piano fingering tutorials transferrable to melodica or what’s the method? Thanks!
Hi Daithí
Yes, piano fingerings are transferrable to melodica. As the key size and weight on melodica are much smaller, you have more options.
You’re right. the C major scale uses the fingers 1,2,3, (then thumb under 3rd finger) 1,2,3,4,5.
Great that you want to learn properly, without bad habits!
