That’s great news! Keep up the good work! Also forgot to mention before, I really enjoyed the 60’s psychedelic feeling of the Electra! Great ☺April 4, 2016 at 2:58 am #7011AndreParticipantHi
Don’t know how to open a m37c!
But I can tell you that you can push the reeds down, carefully, until there is virtually no space between the reed and the gap! Normally only if the reed is already under the gap, there will be no sound! But sometimes one reed can be really down and the response will be great and another reed will need to have more space in order for it to play well. At least in my experience, wich is not great. I’m sure that here more members will help you out ?!April 4, 2016 at 2:43 am #7009AndreParticipantHi Melodica-me!
Great work from M.O.M ??! And great collaborations ?!
Also, what I found curious was the fact that, as I mentioned to Lowboy,I have been producing, (or at least trying to) some dubs and beats and working with samples, and I sampled precisely Donny Hathaway! Great coincidence, I have been away from the forum and now I come back and found that you guys are playing a cover of Danny Hathaway, and Lowboy is playing the melodica as a modular synth! New things that I have learned and discovery in the past months, and that now I found here! Great synchronicity ?!
Anyway about this recording, I really enjoy it, I think it is great ?! Also love the connection with the other players, and especially with Tokyo Melodica Orchestra, of course because of Pianonymous! Great work guys!
And by speaking in Japan, I have sampled and discover a great Japanese composer J. A. Caesar! Maybe Pianonymous and her crew could make a cover one of this days! ? lol!
Finally just wanted to say one more time, great song and work! Please make this more often! ?April 4, 2016 at 2:07 am #7007AndreParticipantHi Lowboy
It has been a while since the last time I visited the forum. I’m just hearing this, hooow, great effects!
I have trying to produce some music on the computer, and have been learning a bit about synths. And using some vst plugins (not the same has the real analogue). Lol. A new world for me. Didn’t know anything about synths a few months ago. Didn’t know what was a moog either. Lol. And now I’m hearing this and I think it is pretty creative.
You are always looking for for new techniques, sounds and possibilities for the melodica! Great work Lowboy!
Also this past months I haven’t been playing the melodica. I have been exploring computer producing, so I have been playing finger drums with pads, exploring synths, playing bass on the midi controller, sampling etc. Also exploring more with musical production eq, delays, reverbs, etc. And now I’m back to the melodica and I found that this past months learnings and experiences were very helpful when it comes to playing the melodica!
I simply enjoy hearing this! Great!September 18, 2015 at 12:12 am #5955AndreParticipantHi Rodrigo

August 24, 2015 at 1:58 pm #5846AndreParticipantHi Lowboy
Thanks for the explanation! Sure that the sound engineering makes the difference! Unfortunately my knowledge about sound engineering and mixing is extremely basic. Thanks to you I’m now more aware that sometimes just an apparent small detail, like placing the mic on the back of the melodica, and the distance between them, could make the difference. I have been listening and watching some of Addis Pablo, the son of Augustus, live acts and noticed that the mic is always pointing to the front of the melodica. His melodica never sounds so good, and although they are playing the same melodica (Addis plays a version of the airboard , the rasta melodica, the same instrument different colours.) the difference between one and another is audible. I’m sure that the festivals where he, Addis plays have also expensive mixing equipments, but it seems that the sound engineers may not be so good, or not so careful or experienced in mixing melodicas. The acoustic of the place where they preform also makes the difference. But in this case, I guess you are right Lowboy the melodica was processed and mixed with great care to make it sound good. Excellent!August 23, 2015 at 10:34 pm #5844AndreParticipantGreat!
I love the way the guy makes the melodica sound so smooth. Lowboy noted the mic position, but would it be that the only reason? Would love to see him going more “wild” playing some more solos. 🙂August 23, 2015 at 9:29 pm #5843AndreParticipantHi MM
Thanks for the more detailed information. That was also the same impression I’ve got after reading the sellers description, it’s a money pit!! But I always thought that it would be great that the someone realesed a nice decent digital melodica, that could be used in more electronic actual styles and genres, such as psy dub, dubstep, chill out, etc.etc. Maybe with some USB interface or something. Not that it is not possible to use the normal melodicas in those genres. And they are used. But it would be, in my opinion, a good way to modernise and innovate the instrument. -
