    Hi all,

I recently acquired 2 Hohner Professional 36 after searching for a long time. The 1st one is in great shape and has a beautiful sound, although recently one of the higher keys started giving a weird sound instead of the actual note. The second one has a serious leak and it’s not really possible to properly play it. For me the vintage melodicas are really about the sound and using them to play and not necessarily to collect.

My question is: is it useful to keep the leaking Hohner in case my good one needs repair? Is it realistic that it can be repaired, as I read on this forum that it’s a complicated task, so I’m wondering if opening it up will lead to leaks and the like. And I think I won’t be willing to pay 150+ euros to an accordeon mechanic to have it repaired. So I’m considering to sell the leaking Hohner and save some money. What are your thoughts?

And another question: I really love melodicas when I go camping with friends and make music. The Piano 36 is great for that and survives the moisture and temperature differences well. How would the Prof 36 and a Clavietta hold up under such circumstances? I’m quite careful with them, of course, but on the other hand it would be great to have those with me sometimes!

    Thanks 🙂
