I have a Hohner 32 and I noticed it has a rattle inside. Also the spit valve is stuck open. Do I dare open it up and see what’s going on? Or is it a good excuse to buy another one? I’ve been thinking of upgrading to a Yamaha P37D
Don’t be afraid to take it apart. By a rattle, do you mean something rolling around when you shake the melodica? It sounds like the spit valve mechanism has come apart or broken. If it has just come apart, for example if the spring has come off, it should be easy to put it back together. Just be sure to use a proper size screwdriver so the screw heads don’t get stripped. I thought you were already upgrading to a P-37D.
Yes it rattles when I shake it? I did get the spit valve closed, but I’m afraid to push it again. I will try opening it when my husband is around. I have one broken arm and so I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to work on it.
