Hey melodica lovers! I’m pleased to share that my melodica quartet just released our first-ever album! It’s a mix of Bach arrangements, original compositions, and improvisation. I’m particularly excited about the compositions (one by myself and another by our member Lili Tobias), the Bach double violin concerto, and the arrangement of Brandenburg 5, where I had the great pleasure of learning the monster cadenza in the first movement.
You can listen to the record today on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, etc.
I’m hoping to make all of these arrangements publicly available at some point, but if anyone wants one sooner please let me know and I’d be happy to share the files.
We’d so love to hear your thoughts!
That looks great! Congratulations.
I’ve bookmarked the album on my Bandcamp page and will check it out properly later.
Oh, this is nice! It’s the combination of playing tone, recording quality, and arrangements. The bass on accordion gives the sound a nice stability. Good work. Love the album cover too 😉
Thanks for the kind words! It was a lot of fun to put together. The bass accordion is a great counterbalance to the brightness of these instruments – it’s a Hohner Basso, which are unfortunately very hard to come by. Its lowest note is the same low C a double bass gets with a C extension. It shakes the whole room!
