While reading this topic I was thinking, couldn’t the manufacturers of melodicas install a type of small air release switch on their new instruments that you could just shift to release more air from the melodica and thereby muting the sound? Furthermore, would it work if you press the tip of your tongue against the inside of your front teeth to limit the sound going to the melodica? on the other hand it might sound abit airy.
