    Hi All,

I am still working on getting a solo recording of a couple of my melodicas with a “harmonica” sound. Still tweaking a few things and I found little time this weekend to attempt a recording.

However, I thought I would post a recording with a melodica solo. A friend and I recorded this one a couple of weeks ago. The song is call Gin House Blues and the Animals recorded it in 1960s. According to an internet site, the song was written by Fletcher Henderson and Henry Troy in 1925, and recorded by Bessie Smith with Henderson in 1926. My friend sings and plays guitar, and I play the melodica solo and the cow bell.

Finding a good solo for this song was very difficult. I did about 30 takes and nothing worked. Finally I just said the heck with it, and when the solo part came around, I just let flow without thinking and a pretty decent solo came out.

Far from perfect, but somehow it works. Again, this was a quick 10-minute mix, so it is a bit rough.

    Here is the link:

    Hope you enjoy it.
