Related to Ofir’s question in his thread, I have a question on gapping.

I am not an expert tuner. In fact I have yet to tune even one of my melodicas. I have, however, tried adjusting the reed gap on several melodicas. When I do this, I find the tuning changes. It puts my melodicas out of tune.

Unless I am gapping incorrectly, I think gapping and tuning are related to each other.

Question: Should I be able to adjust reed gap to my heart’s content and expect the tuning to remain unchanged? If so, what the correct reed gapping technique that prevents detuning of the reeds?
