Does anyone know wich melodica the Beachboys used in their song Cabinessence?
If you listen closely with headphones you will hear it is a top quality instrument with a good harmonica sound.
Hi Johan,
this tune is much too high for a usual melodica, so you would need a soprano melodica which isn’t likely for the year 1969. Maybe an accordina? Yes, but then I suspected it could be a harmonica player playing an open harp, and I guess that’s it – on the Wikipedia “Cabinessence” site they are listing the recording personnel, and they only talk about an accordion player (which is the guy playing the counterpoint to the harp) and a harmonica.
Greetings, Quetscher
Thank you very much. On the wikipedia article The Melodica in Music the claim is made that a melodica is being played on that song, but wikipedia also warns that the particular article have lots of issues. I suppose that is one of the mistakes in the article.
