I tried to copy the sound of Toots Thielemans with my Vibrandoneon – here’s the result…
Well, you’ve thrown down the gauntlet, Quetscher. Thanks! I think this is tough, period, but even more so on the Vibrandoneon.
That’s beautiful! Very nicely phrased!
Great sound Quetscher! I really like that slightly drifty tuning…
Hi Alan, Binyomin, Daren,
thanks for your comments.
I’m not entirely content with the result. It was not my plan to record this, I was just checking a mic and a few days before I had heard a recording of Toots Thielemans, and while checking the mic I discovered a certain resemblance in sound between the harp of Toots and my instrument, so I wanted this to be documented – but I should have chosen a smaller arrangement, and I should have been brave enough to exaggerate what Daren calls a “slightly drifting tuning” (because that’s what harp players do, and they have no fear to seem to be out of tune sometimes!).
