Hi Alan, yes, bending is possible! You just need to press the key only half or so and blow a little stronger (each melodica reed reacts differently, low notes are easier to bend than high notes, and sometimes you have to press the key only minimally, or have to blow really hard, just try out, but remember that when you try to forcefully, this could cause damage with the reeds!)
