thanks for the rapid response. I really appreciate all that you have contributed here-I have read it all 8^). The melodica I am discussing is not a piano 36. It is a professional 36–I have both. Having dis-assembled it I can assure you it does indeed have reed plates. Perhaps the first ones had individual reeds–I cannot attest to that. I have considered using either beeswax or “reed wax” , which I am sure you know is a blend of beeswax and pine rosin, but I was wondering if anyone knows what the original adhesive is. It definitely is not a wax blend-it does not melt with a heat application. I have no problem with making repairs. Just trying to do it right.
