I own three Hohner Piano 36 melodicas: two vintage ones from Germany, and one I purchased about 10 years ago before Hohner ceased production of the Piano 36. When my Mylodica arrived n the post a few years ago, I have to admit, I was immediately disappointed with the sound. It’s not a bad sound, but for the price, I was expecting something a little special, perhaps along the lines of the Hammond 44HP.

I think they both sound quite acoustic. The tone of the regular 44 is similar to other melodicas, whereas the 44HP has a cleaner, smoother sound, similar to melodicas with accordion style reeds, such as the Vibrandoneon.
